The Last Word

Despite its disarming jade hue, The Last Word is a bit of a wild ride on the taste buds.

It's tangy and bright, with loads of herbaceous notes from gin, Green Chartreuse liqueur and maraschino liqueur.

As a boozy, pungent and citrus forward cocktail, I find it wonderful as a palate-cleanser after a flavour-intense meal, and satisfying as my last cocktail after a few.

Using less maraschino liqueur than traditional recipes because I find the woodsy, herbaceous notes in Luxadro overpowering.


20 ml dry gin

10 ml Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur

20 ml Green Chartruese

10 ml Fresh lemon juice

10 ml Fresh lime juice

Lemon peel


Herbs and/or edible flowers


Jigger, bar spoon, cocktail shaker

Serve in a Coupe glass.

❶ Chill the coupe glass and prepare garnish.

❷ In a shaker add all ingredients, except lemon peel.

❸ Add ice and shake vigorously for about 12 seconds.

❹ Strain into the chilled glass.

❺ Twist lemon peel to express oil into the drink. Discard the peel.

❻ Garnish and serve.
